Self-makeup courses

Taught on your face, with your products, for the life you actually have. The goal is a routine you can do in twenty minutes without thinking about it — and know how to stretch when it matters.

A lesson in progress at the studio mirror

Why it is taught this way

Most makeup lessons are a demonstration: someone does a face on you, you go home, and you cannot reproduce any of it. Here you hold the brush from the first ten minutes. I sit beside you and correct as you go.

We start by emptying your bag onto the table. Usually a third of it is wrong for your skin, a third is the right idea in the wrong shade, and a third is fine and being used backwards. Sorting that out is worth more than any technique.

You leave with photographs of each step on your own face, taken as we go, plus a written routine. Nobody remembers a two-hour lesson. Everybody can follow their own notes.

The private course, hour by hour

Your kit, on the table

We go through everything you own. What stays, what goes, what you were sold and never needed. You get a short shopping list, never a sales pitch.

Skin

Prep, base, and how much coverage you actually want. This is where most routines go wrong, and where the biggest change happens.

Structure

Brows, and the three-minute version of shaping the face. Practised on your own bones, not a chart.

Eyes and mouth

One daytime eye you can do half-asleep, and one evening variation built from the same steps. Plus how to fix the wing when it goes wrong.

Doing it alone

You run the full routine start to finish while I watch and say nothing until the end. That last hour is the part that makes it stick.

Courses

Private, one day

Four hours, one-on-one at the studio. Kit review, full routine, written notes and step photographs. The most common booking.

$425

Private, two sessions

Two afternoons a fortnight apart. The second is for what fell apart at home — which is always something.

$690

Small group

Three hours, four to six people, each on their own face. Bring your own group, or join a scheduled Saturday.

$180/person

Mother and daughter

Three hours for two, pitched at a first proper routine and an updated one. Popular before graduations.

$390

Prices in Canadian dollars, taxes not included. Bring your own products; the studio has clean brushes and everything you might want to try.

Before you book

I wear almost no makeup. Is this for me?
Especially. A large share of clients want the smallest possible routine that still holds up on camera or in a meeting. We can build a five-product version and stop there.
Do I need to buy anything first?
No. Bring what you already own, including the things you never use. Buying comes after we know what is missing, and the list is usually short.
Do you teach for mature skin?
Yes, and it is a genuinely different technique — less powder, different placement, different formulas. Mention it when booking so I prepare the right products.
Can we do this before a photo session?
A course and a portrait session pair well, though not on the same day. Book them a week or two apart so you can practise in between.
